This brief was in collaboration with PDR (International Centre for Design Research) and Tom Wheeler (Founder of Notbroken) in the design of a mountain bike specific arm orthoses for individuals living upper limb paralysis. The current market lacks sports specific arm orthoses, as a result individuals frequently have to immobilise the limb using a sling, causing the individual to become unbalanced and overcompensating with their unaffected arm. The arm brace below was designed with the intention of encouraging speed of recovery and bilateral arm use.
